West Virginia-based waste management firm names John Decker managing partner and CEO.
Apple Valley Waste, Kearneysville, W.V., a provider of solid waste collection, recycling, and disposal services in Berkley and Jefferson Counties, W.V., and Washington County, Md., has named John Decker managing partner and CEO. Decker is a 20 year waste industry veteran who has held leadership positions with both public and private solid waste companies. Most recently, he was the vice president of operations for Casella Waste.
Decker joins a team of experienced operators who are focused on providing the highest quality services in their communities. As the Managing Partner of Apple Valley, Decker will work alongside James ("J.P.") Phillips, one of the founding partners, who will continue as General Manager of Apple Valley Waste. Phillips has been with Apple Valley since inception and is a 13-year industry veteran who has also worked for Allied Waste Services and General Refuse.

Exide Technologies will spend $20 million to reduce emissions at its Frisco, Texas, facility.
The owner of a decades-old battery recycling plant in Texas has agreed to spend $20 million to cut lead emissions in one of the nation's fastest-growing suburbs. Exide Technologies Inc.'s plan is expected to sharply cut emissions at its plant in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, from a high of 2.47 tons in 2008 — when the Environmental Protection Agency told the company it must reduce emissions — to 640 pounds, or 0.32 tons per year, The Dallas Morning News reported. Jack’s Family Recycling Center becomes Minnesota’s first e-Steward’s electronics recycler.
The Basel Action Network (BAN), based in Seattle, has announced that Jack’s Family Recycling Center (JFRC), Alexandria, Minn., has been certified as an e-Stewards recycler. E-Stewards certification is an accredited third-party audit program.

Imperial Systems, Jackson Center, Pa., has introduced the upgraded DeltaMaxx replacement dust collector filter line. The company says the filters are designed to perform as well as or better than competitor cartridge filters.
North Charleston, S.C., facility reaches waste diversion goal.
Sonoco Recycling, Hartsville, S.C., has established a partnership with Boeing that is designed to help the aerospace firm achieve zero waste at its South Carolina final assembly and delivery facility in North Charleston, S.C.
